SONG SHADOWS

This painting is my interpretation of the beautiful song, “THEME FROM MAHOGANY’

(DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING TO?”) as performed by Diana Ross

“DOORS ARE OPEN”

The maidens of the note and the echoes of the canyon bring forth a movement and enjoyment just as a comforting stream refreshes our landscape.

Not based on any song, just an idea that I had.

“NOTE WORTHY CANYON”

Inspired by the “Seals and Crofts” beautiful song.

“Hummingbird”

“DON”T FLY AWAY”

Have you ever put yourself into the place of a person that has not been accepted by the people around them? Have you ever been rejected by people who believe that they are better than you? Have you ever been judged by people for your appearance? More importantly are YOU one of those people that pass judgement and acceptance.

THE HOMELESS FLIGHT”

Inspired by the Paul Simon tune, “Sparrow

This painting is about a guy who was dreaming about painting a perfect life with the love of his life, but he ran around having a good time and she learned that she could also run around and he couldn’t accept this. Her love faded as she found out that there was more to life than some guy who told her that he loved her while allowing himself to partake in other worldly follies without her. The painting lies torn on the ground, the candle of love has gone out and she is running away.

“SHATTERED DREAMS”

The painting was inspired by the song “MONA LISA” by Johhny Cunningham and performed by David Allen Coe

Guitar painted for a friend with the Paul McCartney song. “With A Little Luck” as the inspiration.

As a vinyl album plays within its adventurous trails the magic and the music flows like a beautiful waterfall delivering the sounds of the instruments to the listener.

“VINYL FALLS”

“GO ASK ALICE”

One experience in life may make you feel larger, more confident in yourself and others may make you feel quite small and insignificant. When you except life as it is you have the best chance to stay on the correct path while on this earth. Don’t be distracted or chase passing events in life that you can’t control, such as chasing rabbits or listening to a catapillers advise. Don’t be to enamored by the seemingly beautiful things in life, such as those brightly colored mushrooms that may result in very bad consequences.

This painting was inspired by the Jefferson Airplanes song “White Rabbit”

“NO WORDS FOR GOODBYE”

The love of your life has gone and you don’t know if you’ll ever see that person again. You’ve tried so many times to put down in writing your affection for that love, but you can never truly express those thoughts and only have piles of faded letters which blow away just as your hopes and dreams have.

Inspired by the Mark Knofler, Emmylou Harris song, “If This Is Goodbye”

“ALL THE BEST”

True love is one where you want the best for the one you love, even if you can’t and won’t be together. When you go your separate ways you wish for them the greatest of futures and it is irrelevant what or where your future takes you.

I was inspired by the Mark Knofler and Emmylou Harris song, “Love and Happiness”

“THE SOUND MACHINE”

Do you ever close your eyes.and imagine a beautiful place in your life as you listen to your favorite music?

Floating in front of a speaker, she rides on a sheet of music, listening and enjoying the sounds of her favorite songs.

Inspired by the Steppenwolf song “MAGIC CARPET RIDE”

“A MATTER OF TIME”

You’ve been searching so long for that one true love and you haven’t crossed the bridge for the answer. It’s just a matter of time until you realize that if you follow your heart, the love you seek is standing right in front of you.

inspired by the song “Sooner or Later” by the “Grassroots”

Graphite and Acrylic

Three attempts at combining a pencil illustration with acrylic painting on illustration board. I enjoyed the challenge and may attempt this same style in the future.

Remember that no matter what happens today and the feeling of sorrow you may feel through the night, tomorrow will bring a new day and an opportunity to change your situation.

“WHEN BIRDS SING”

Inspired by the Gerry and The Pacemakers song. “Don’t Let The Sun Catch You Crying”

“MY RETREAT”

This illustration was inspired by the Don Mclean song. “Castles In The Air”

Have you turned your back on the people that have loved you? You broke hearts in your attempt to be what you called freedom only to realize that you were much better off if you would have stayed where you belong. Just keep falling and you’ll get there.

“BROKEN HEART FREEDOM”

Inspiration from the Tom Petty song, “FREE FALLIN”

“AFTER ALL THESE YEARS”

We have all experienced that feeling of loss when a loved one has passed and we reflect back on those very personal experiences that tied us together so many years before. A lot of times it is not the big obvious examples of a relationship, but rather the small individual memories that eternally bind us together.

Inspired by the Chet Atkins tune “I still can’t Say Goodbye” made popular by Merle Haggard.

“RIVER BLESSINGS”

You are welcome to the river of life as it flows as a stream from above. A gift of cascading streams of hope, understanding and eternal life. Don’t be afraid to plunge your whole being and existence into the water of true life as you take on the belief of the robe and crown into your future..

Inspired by the Alison Krauss song, “Down By The River To Pray”

A FANTABULOUS NIGHT”

A fantastic night of early anxiety has blossomed into a great night of romance and contentment.

This is my interpretation of the Van Morrison song “Moondance”

You paint a smile on your face even though you feel sad and lonely. You cry when you’re alone and try to smile when you’re out among the public, but you can never forget the person that you loved and trusted has gone away.

“MY MIRAGE”

Inspired by the song “Tracks of My Tears” by Smokey Robinson

“MY BROTHERS WALK”

Inspired by the “Hollies” song “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother

Everywhere you go you see illusions of your love, be it on a drive in the country, on a crowded freeway or in the back allies of your mind.

“OUT OF REACH”

Tommy James and Shondells inspired me with their song “Mirage” to create this painting.

The “BYRDS” song

“TURN TURN TURN” ( To Everything There is a Season”)

was the inspiration for these two paintings

“LIFE AND TIME”

“SHORES OF TIME”

“SIXTY BAND CANYON”

I lay in the depths of a mental canyon and everywhere I gazed a musical memory presented itself.

This painting features 60 images that represent 60 different bands, including: The Eagles, Bread, Three Dog Night, Badfinger, The Turtles, Iron Butterfly, The Hollies, Spooky Tooth, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and many more.

I had this painting printed as a poster that includes the names of all sixty bands represented in the original painting.

“CREATURE CLASSICS”

I found myself in the midst of the forested land and dreamed of all the animals that represent the music in my mind.

This painting features sixty songs that contain animal names in their song title” including Barracuda, Honky Cat, Wings of a Dove, Ride The Tiger, Inch Worm, Crocodile Rock, Running Bear, Diamond Dogs, Mockingbird and many more.

I had this painting printed as a poster that includes all sixty animal song titles that are represented in the original painting.

“ A JOURNEYED LIFE”

Inspired by the Scott Fish album “GOSSAMER SADNESS”

“THERE FOR YOU”

Inspired by the Jacque Darragh son, “BORNING CRY”
